i feel bad for the people who have lived and are living at this beach. Just a few days i ago i visted this beach, it was the first time in about 2 years. I was shocked to see how much was gone. The grey house on the end of the road is in big trouble. Its garage is just from the eroding bank. The bottom of the bank looked as though a tsunami swept through.

Take it easy there, Sluggers!
I recently moved to Seattle from a small town in n. Cal. As the recent messages show, there are some major kooks from in and around this city. I am sorry for their rude comments and ask the regulars to take it easy on the rest of us who respect their space. Its important to remember that once in a while its nice to surf somewhere that your not from and have a good day of surfing with no drama. Everybody should be cool and make the water a nice place to be. There are a lot of stresses in peoples lives and surfing should help with them, not add to them. See you out there. E

damn ..i never thought the harbor would get so much attention from people. its like this, it will continue to be like this, it has always been like this.{grey and wet} ok now as for as being a place where you cant make something of yourself...BULLSHIT, i have friends and family who make ....well lets just say a cozy living from the harbor...all have been all over the world, surfed many places but still call the harbor home, see its a lifestyle here, for me at least, i have been many places, and surfed all over. but still call this place home. its not about what place is better, its about riding waves and loving life where-ever you are at.
personal preferance is a whole other story and is open to ones own opinion....surf to stay sane....

... that some Seattle-dwelling surfer is spouting ill-will towards to the Westport locs (except, maybe, for the super bi-polar one or two). Kudos to the loc who is calling you on your shit. He (or she?) seems much more eloquent and much less presumptuous than you.

As a Seattle-dwelling surf interloper I respect the folks who can hack the hinterland existence. That they do so betrays a pretty fierce surf stoke.

And yes, this site sucks. So why am I here? Because I'm in a library, 3 hours from surf, and I have to satiate my jones in such demoralizing ways as trolling surf websites. Its as simple and perverse as that.

Do we really want to get into the what is a local debate? I haven't been surfing forever, but I grew up on the harbor and was building sandcastles on some of these beaches when I was like 2. Take that for what you will or trash on me for it, I'm not too worried about it either way. Well, geez, is that a fact? Kind of hard to tell when you know NOTHING about me. Also, just wondering where in this conversation I came off trying to be tough? I think it's funny that I'm just presenting a reasonable argument while all you can do is try and attack me on a personal level, and YOU'RE the one telling ME to grow up. Show me one place where I've said something that doesn't support the true spirit of surfing.

Who's local?
You want to know who gave away the NC? Hey dumb-ass people have been surfing the NC for years. Remember when Gallager had a yard still? I do.
The only thing local about a Westport local is the fact that you live in a one horse town. I'm happy you all get to surf while we sit in traffic five days a week. I'm happy you get to hassle city people and run your mouth.
I'm also happy that when we are all 65 I'll be living off a fat retirement someplace warm while you sit and suck off the states tits all the while running up your DUI numbers. Get a life, a plan and some motivation for the future.
You can have Westport. I lived there, surfed everyday it was decent, even the NC, but that was before assholes like yourself came to town and claimed local status.
Grow up. Your not that tough.

An observation, not a compliment
I didn't realize we were having an economic discussion, some people work and live fine, while others may not be so lucky. It is the sad truth, but can be said for many areas.

All that I see being posted are a bunch of stereotypes aimed at a diverse group of people. I'll admit it is much easier to label people than it is to take an educated outlook and realize that everyone is different. A sarcastic remark here and there, maybe you just have some growing up to do. Not everyone who lives and surfs in the area is trying to run you out of the water and kick your teeth in, keep that in mind before you say negative things about people you don't even know.

It's that very "we think we're better than you" attitude that the locals despise.
