no beginners
you should stay out of there if you are a beginner - you will get run over / not because of attitude, but because of too many people in an area the size of the key on a basketball court

go to the south jetty of the columbia in summer - the jetty is huge and cuts down all the chop

Great spot
I have lived in teh NW all my life and surfed all over. Other than this water being cold (just like everywhere in the NW), this spot kicks ass! I have more fun here than at seaside point. Some localism but for the most part if you show a "little" respect then your off and surfing. Unlike seaside point... you show up and so respect it is seen as weakness... so they are hostile and you are hostile. And for me... I am able to pull it off.. but thats not what surfing is about, for me. You'll love this place...

the groins are an awesome place to surf and a great place for beginers to learn. long lefts. works best on a falling tide on a 6-12ft west or southwest swell. go on south winds.

the cove is also a great place to surf. lots of toobs and it's a real easy paddle out even on the biggest days. works best on a high tide with a big north west swell. south or south east winds.

the jetty is good too. great waves right in the corner and the rip alog the jetty gets you right to the line up in a snap. works best on a combo swell 3-7ft with east winds.

the locals are so easy going. they dont mind sharing a sesh with a kook or 30. they are such nice people there and they need a bunch of new faces to make friends with.

Ab Sucks Monkey Nuts
It's the jetty wall that sticks out to the south, just east of Fort Canby's State Park in the Columbia River. It is federal property but there are other good waves in the area too. P.S. Ab, have fun sucking monkey nuts and being bit in half by Jaws at "Coast Gaurds".

wow, mr. navy seal is soooo coooool!
so you are gloating about surfing your private, navy-guarded sandbar in that "big river" way down south? you mean the one that is straight onshore and shithouse on south winds? yeah, i bet it fires all winter. clown.
