Golden Gardens...really?
If anyone has pics of these "clean, head-high" sets, would love to see them. I've lived there almost my whole life and never seen anything really rideable (and I spent a lot of time drinkin' on that beach before I was old enough to hit up the Sloop). Good on ya if you can say you rode it though!

the 'Gardens' was firing Monday
Don't know what did it. Maybe the combo tide and the big northerly wind. Whatever it was made for some clean head-high sets and otherwise four or five hours of consistent waist-high fun. And it was 75 degrees and sunny out! You'd never guess you were a three minute drive from Ballard. Long live the Sloop Tav!

Too much rain
With all the rain and runoff this winter the sandbars north of the bathhouse have gotten all messed up so quality surf has been less consistent. Hopefully things will shape up for Spring.

workable sandbar...sometimes
At low tide, there's a nice little sandbar. When a huge tanker or cruise ship goes by, wait about 12 to 15 minutes and you've got a 3" glassy set. Had loads of good rides in an outrigger. Want to try the longboard next.

hah! That's true. I had to add this spot after reading some of the other Washington spots lited. At least I actually did surf it once. Be shure to check Greenlake on your way out there--hey you never know!

4ft sets today.
I didn't believe this place was real but thought I'd check it out today and holy crap it was working!!! 4ft sets and no one out!!! I had to walk all the way north on the beach past the old bath-house and around the point to find the waves but there they were. Thanks for the post!

High pressure has meant nice offshores
This last week we've had a steady high pressure system over western WA and its made for some nice offshore conditions at the Gardens. One word of caution: watch out for the off-leash dogs that sometimes escape from the park up the way. They like to chase your leash as you're entering/leaving the water and it can get pretty dangerous with the shore-pound.
