ANGRY LITTLE BALD GUY look out for him, he is the owner of the RV park and will try to get money from you to surf the spot. he may tell you that he is going to call the police for being on private property but take it from someone who knows the laws, he may own the tide land but if you are standing in water he cant do anything about it. happy surfing and look out for him!!!

Crazy Lady Briefing The crazy woman who has deeded ownership of the tidelands (meaning the ocean floor out to the extreme low tide line) will indeed call police and urge the county prosecutor to charge you with criminal trespass 2 for even standing in shallow water. As weird and crazy as it sounds this is the case. If you surf here avoid contact with anyone walking on the beach, as they are weird owners looking to hassle you for money. If you don't pay them they may call sheriffs. Sheriffs side with owners to a degree, although the washington state application of the public trust doctrine may cover tideland passage for recreationalists and has not been adequately settled in court. Just a heads up. When the crazy lady is screaming that she will call the police she means it, and they actually will drive out there and give you a considerable hassle...then charge you with a misdemeanor. It's a giant pain in the ass. Please still surf there and please do not encourage this crazy bitch by giving her any business.

kanuman I've surfed the wave at Crescent Rock in a kayak a few times. Someone told me some locals call it the "Beast". It's about a mile offshore and it gets huge. I surf here a few days a week and do my best to be friendly and share, I try to give board surfers priority on waves since they are not as mobile. Peace

oregon111 this spot is weak and breaks only a few days a year - usually no more than waist high

wnw swell at a very high tide..... the few times I've been there with an abnormally high tide and a good wnw swell there has been a massive wave way out in the strait...I want to say a mile or a mile and a half out there there is some shallow island that gets covered in a very high tide and there are some hooters breaking over it. Anybody else ever sat there and looked at those huge waves way way out there?

Summer Swells? I am planning to come down on some trips to Surf Crescent during the summer. What should I expect? Aug-Sept

Direction Does Crescent break reliably on a decent size (9ft+) W swell? The direction isn't perfect for the Strait this weekend but thinking about giving it a go and don't want to get totally skunked. Thx.

great day i was out there a couple of weeks ago on a sunday. ive never been out there when there were so many kayakers out. a couple of guys out there actually knew the rules and gave me the right of way, which shocked the hell out of me. the rest of the kayakers were way out of position so they werent a problem. oh it was pretty sick. me and dave scored the waves of the day.
