Parking is free if you park ON the jetty, thank your local surfer for that! Use the rip along the jetty to get past the break on big or messy days.
Overview
Atmosphere
This is big windsurfing/kiteboarding spot in the summer. In those months go in the morning because the wind starts to build around noon and you can expect 20 plus by 4pm. Locals are pretty friendly unless you do something stupid. Seals are always checking you out. Remember the water is cold.
General
The great thing about South Jetty is that a few times a year you'll find perfect 7-10 foot waves and only about 5-10 people to share them with.

AMAZING, yet again! 8 foot day breaking away from the jetty... perfect lefts in the spot where I was sitting.. some rights, but not many... tubing all the way down the shore... glassy... just spectacular!!

Inside the river mouth?
I was visiting my mom in Florence recently - no stick or suit, so I just watched. Nobody was surfing inside the jetty, in the river. What conditions do you need for that to be surfable?

south jetty hasnt been good latley on calm wind days go to the north its been pretty consistant
