you might note that....
the driving instructions say: (Park on the south side of the Waldport Bridge...) anyone see something wrong with that? from what i've seen the alsea has just about nothing, a channel that goes under the center of the bridge where sometimes some real ugly waves break and where sea lions hang out at low tide. however, north of it....

Someone might want to mention that when it IS going off, there are 20-30 people crowding one peak with longboards. All locals. 6 people taking off on each wave. Party waves galore.

Biggest I've ever seen it is waist high and it's always super mush. Don't expect quality, this is a break for getting your fix in the middle of winter.

3-4 days a year
It can get chest high and decent 3-4 days a year. Incomming medium to high tide only. The swell must be 20ft+ from 230 degrees. Only a few winter storms a year will get south enough in latitude to send that kind of SW swell angle.

O.D.O.T. has a cam pointing right at it, so you can see when it's going off, which is rare.

It takes big winter swells to push up into the bay. Even then, it's only 1-2 foot waves with no push (leave your shortboard at home). Better yet, don't go at all, so you don't get sucked out into the stormy sea when the tide shifts.

I can only wonder what misguided individual misconstrued this as a surf spot. There is heavy boat traffic, a river mouth, and a continuous stream of debris and crap running out of the Yaquina River. To float out here in desperation on a surfboard is to beg the insults, jeers, and empty bottles of every car that passes over the bridge.

worthless
This spot has no value, unless u want to surf 1ft waves. Waste of time.
