Additional Surfing Infos
Once in Sandbridge, drive to Little Island Park(3.5 miles south) to public beach access. Rest rooms and showers provided. Surfing area is north of the pier. Surfers should stay at least 50 yards from pier or people fishing get angry. Usually a sandbar is built up at the end of the peir and has a nice left on south swell.
  Overview
Atmosphere Sandbridge is a barrier island similar top the Outer Banks. Some excellent surfers ride Sandbridge, from the North End to Little Island; Lifeguards are stationed at both ends. About half way down to the park, most experienced surfers park and walk on the beach, or they continue on to Little Island. Best waves come in late summer/fall during the hurricane season. Sandbars shift from season to season and rips can be dangerous.
It is a vacation spot where families rent beach houses or homeowners get away from the madness of the Va Bch oceanfront. The southern end of Sandbridge is a pristine environment with no houses or man made obstructions. Back Bay National Wildlife Sanctuary is west and south of Little Island. Show respect and you will be rewarded with a great time in a beautiful natural setting.
General Sandbridge is one of the prettiest places in Virginia, especially during the fall when summer crowds go away. The water stays warm and the waves are generally better at that time of year.

Waiting For Big Bertha
Overall a fun night in Sandbridge.  Low tide always does this spot right and with a Severe Thunderstorm watch in effect, the break was absolutely empty! Me and my little bro paddled out into waist high glass.  Not epic, but its a good warm

Sharks sandbridge
There has been only one shark attack in 20 years. 2001 a 12 boy was bit in the right butt cheek by a bull shark while standing on the sandbar hang on to his board. the boy did die It was very sad. 2001 was the year with all the skark attacks on the east coast. I surfed there a lot in the last 10 year and have only seen 3 sharks

October-Dec 1, Full suitDecember through April, Full suit, booties, gloves, hatApril through June, spring suit, but dont pack it away until august. Sometimes the water is fine, but the air is cold and vice a versa...
