Ocean City Maryland... 9 miles maybe of open beach. Summer time is very crowded, even with all the parking on the ocean and bay sides, you might not have any luck unless you get up early. Winter access is not a factor.

 Additional Information

There are tons of breaks along this part of the coast. The main streets from most popular to least.

48th street, 70th, 62nd, 130th, 28th, 52nd, 81st, and 142nd.

48th street for some reason holds the biggest and best lefts and rights. Extremely crowded, localism is present, its the place everybody checks first. Best tide is incoming. If you are new to the area, i'd recommend surfing here.

70th/62nd/81st/: These spots also can get a crowd. Not as crowded as 48th, nor hold up the same type of size for some reason. but basically break the same.

130th/142nd: This place can break better closer to high tide than spots in mid-town. It is more of a bodyboard wave, high performance, with quick drops - similar to fenwick island.

Atmosphere

Ocean City in the winter time is a circus, but most of us don't score epic waves during this season anyway.

Ocean City will pick up more swell directions than areas in Delaware so it will bring down some surfers from up there. When spots up north are flat, Ocean City will probably be ridable.

In the winter locals are kind of mellow. But when it gets heaving, it can get agressive out there. Just don't drop in, and stay out of their way, and you will be fine.

moved - Just moved from San Diego to lower MD. Is there any break thats consistant. I respect locals and most of the time let them take the best sets because thats they way it goes!!!!!

Town's dead - I'm from MD and have been suring there since 1980ish. Surfing in OC is hit-or-miss. Almost everything in town breaks right on the beach. Even the incredible swell from Bill last summer broke way too shallow. Beach replinishment has trashed it.. Wish they would have continued to maintain the old rock and wood jetties. Oh, well.. Assateague is the place to go in MD. From 3ft to well overhead.

what? - Well, why don't you come on down here then. Bring your pansy California ass down here and I'll smack the shit out of it with the full force of my mixed martial arts fury. Ocean City is the best place in the world and I am the king of it and will claim it forever. I get knee high surf at least once a week and bang high school girls all summer long. I buss tables during tourist season and collect unemployment in the winter when the water is 30 degrees. My dad owns a big seafood restaurant anyway, so technically, I don't have to work. Come on down the shore and ask to see Dusty. Everybody knows who I am. I'm the destroyer of California dreams.
