- Rocks
- Man-made danger (buoys etc..)
- Localism
The Rocks is a well known place, just north of Fox Hill. Park your car on the road, and it is right there.
Atmosphere
First off - it is very cold water. Next, it can get big. It is crowded with hard core locals, you'll get waves but you must SHOW RESPECT! It is one of the best lefts on the east coast and everybody wants to surf the place due to mystic.
General
At low tide with size, you gotta have balls and be prepared to pull into the barrel. At mid-tide with size, it is a steep takeoff with a workable wall. At higher tides, the right breaks going into the rock reef - but don't ignore it, it can be the better and intense option.

Middle Aged/Geezers Losers - Yesterday I was surfing at Rye Rocks and this long-boarder was up on the wave and had the total right of way, I was just in a bad spot and hustled to get out of his wave. He made no effort, didn't move an inch (he shouldn't have to). Fortunately I made it with a foot to spare, he had his wave perfect... everything should have been all right? With the longboarder gone (75 meters down the line). I could finally go for a wave (I had a shortboard that day). I got one and it was really nice but then this crazy deutsch old guy paddles straight for me! I'm chill so I don't wanna hurt anybody so I bail my wave/wipeout and go into a somesaulting in the white water. When I get back up another old middle aged guy yells at me and tells me to hold on to my board (true I never let go of my board but give me a break). So I start to paddle back out through the white water and the longboarder is again on a wave (he hogs them cause hes the only longboarder, just cause you can catch every wave doesn't mean you should!). So im paddling back out and hes riding in but this time he is trying to run me over. When he gets back out he starts to scream and yell and swear at me?! Telling me to get the fuck out of here, he paddles right up next to me and gets in my face.... Not much I can do because hes buddy buddy with the rest of the locals. And every time I come out there and hes out there he gets in my face again and it ruins my session every time!
