still working? - Is it me or does it seem like Jenks is never working anymore? I used to surf there all the time in high school and it seemed like every swell we got, Jenks was always working. I don't live in the area anymore but it seems like everytime I check Jenks now on a good swell, it's completely flat or there is only shorebreak. Also, to the bloke that doesn't think that NJ can hold 15-20 foot faces, sorry dude but you are wrong. 20 is extremely rare (once a decade) but 15 is pretty common (once or twice a year). Take a look at localswell.com and check out some recent pics from Bay Head (you'll see plenty of 15 foot faces). Also I've seen insane pics from Ruggles that were well over 20 feet.

20 jenks - Rar by hollerback14 Feb 2005 - 23:03 John what are you saying? Are you talking about 15-20 ft swells? Because im pretty sure theres no where on the east coast, let alone New jersey that can hold 15+ faces. Maybe some spots in florida can do 15, MAYBE. And i've seen Ruggles get big on storm swells in the winter but ive never heard of NJ holding 15+. 20 is ridiculous. do you know how big 20 is? check out shots from pipe in TW somtime. Thats about 20 feet or more. Your not going to see it get big at jenkinsons or anywhere in new jersey -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Ruggles? look at the shef off ruggles on google earth ,then the shelf off n.j. or better yet hatteras. jenks can hold 20ft... if the swell is right. you cant tell me ruggles or florida can but nothing ellse can. how do i know...cause i surfed jenks at 20ft. you surf jenks long enough year round and you will get the picture. yes i surf pipe,,,and man it is nice not to deal with wetsuits and icecream headachs. the reef and crowds suck.

I rode in ocm - I was out down in Ocean City Maryland and we had a similair firing swell with faces getting up into the double overhead range. It was an epic East coast for the first time in a long time all over. Hope nobody missed it!!!

jenks pro - yah the jenks pro (early september) was sick. the waves were firing at jenks and manasquan. since it was close to shore, i went over to squan and there were some solid 10 ft faces? anyone else ride that day at jenks or squan? if so, how big?

best big wave - very true good longboard spot...locals not bad.you have to walk down to the beach to check it.it looks like you are looking at the break from the car,but it can look flat from the car and at the waters edge you can see the waves.i think cause ther is a big slope towards the water.

jenks ...big wave spot - I have surfed manny double overhead days at jenks.I think its one of the best (if not the best) big wave spot on the east coast.Manasquan inlet can handle 12-15ft faces90% of the time.I HAVE surfed jenkes probly 3 times in the last 6 or 7 yrs at triple overhead(15-20ft faves)and not closing out.most days jenks will be bigger than the squan inlet.-on small days its a fun longboard left.locals are friendlier than the squan side.

beware of the malish! - The "malish" are carniverishly dangerous when it comes to holding down such an anal bunting puckering rosebud spot such as jenks! They are usually seen with logos on their board resembling those you might see on bottles of poison, yes they are the local surfing elite. They stand at nothing to take back what is rightfully theirs. TAKE WARNING THEY ARE ARMED AND DANGEROUS WITH SICK MOVES! Youll often see them launching off crumbling 2ft. shoulders grabbing at their boards in a hapshazard and disheveled manor hoping to lick the brown pucker lips lick of notoious ripper spader a.k.a photog champ of poop jerz.
