Additional Surfing Infos
This spot is best surfed only during the fall and winter. In the summer, lifeguards are on duty which make it very hard to surf National but in the winter and fall the beach is closed and Long Beach is hit with hurricanes and Noreasters.
  Overview
Atmosphere Most people that don't know much about surfing in Long Beach head down to Lincoln where it is super-crowded and full of kooks. When you see National on a good day, it is two feet bigger and the barrels are two feet hollower (is that a word?). So, next time instead of Lincoln, check National.
General I think this is the best spot in Long Beach when its firing. National Beach was world class on days like Easter, Columbus Day, Labor Day, Christmas eve and Washingtons Birthday. (It's just a coincidence that good waves fall on major holidays).

I just wanted to add that the Lincoln kooks have managed to find their way to National and Magnolia. So much for a sick spot. I think everyone should definitely try to get a day in there, especially when the conditions are good - just be aware that the "Lincoln Posse" is moving westward. How sad.

Lincoln/National
Lincoln is kook ridden and full of idiots with no respect. People who know nothing about surfing know all about Lincoln, unfortunately. Most folks in Lincoln are from the Long Beach area or from other local areas - Rockaway, Five Towns, etc.I happen to love National Blvd. It's my favorite break. Even during the summer if we get small, fun waves, it always breaks a lot nicer than the other areas, but you have to get there before 9:00 or after 6:00 unless you ride a sponge. I don't know why - I guess it's the exposure of the spot?National isn't for locals, anymore, either. Fall and Winter have become inundated with people from Babylon and other places out East. It's cool having a mix of folks on the beach, but I hate when people show up acting like dicks at a break that I surf year round. I don't do that shit at Demo or Gilgo on their break.

Local douchebags in LB
Ive seen my fair share of big time dildos locals surfing in LB. I saw some young punk yank a dude's leash one day and pulled him off his board cause "bro no one drops in one my wave". This guy he pulled off was about 50 an had been surfing the spot for about 30 years. No respect. Find a spot where there arent too many folks and you'll enjoy yourself. Steer clear of Lincoln as it is filled with schmucks that think they are Laird on 30 footers.

Whata ya mean NO LOCALS?
You must be kookin in you're tellin people there are no LOCALS. Long Beach is loaded with LOCALS they can be ultra cool or Ultra assho(($ Its up to every individual to judge the crowd. If you feel bad vibes just move to another spot their not going to mug you or follow you out of the water. But if your a tough guy you can definitely find trouble its always waiting. Just share waves respect and be aware!
