on average days it can be a fun wave for anyone to ride, but when major swell hits this break it can be quite challenge paddling out and wave size can reach considerable heights and be very powerful.

Atmosphere
If you are a surfer on long island Lido west is the place to be during the summer , b/c of its considerable size and crowds. During the late fall and winter its parking lot is usually blocked off but access is still possible. During these cold months this beach looks desolate and not very appealing to paddle out into, especially when there is a good swell. But overall it is a good fun and at times challenging wave to ride.
General
I learned to surf at this spot and have still been surfing it since. It is a very fun wave to ride and i will never get tired of surfing it.
I love this place...
Lido West makes you a better surfer/bodyboarder. Don't believe me? Paddle out during a decent swell (doesn't need to be huge). Lido West jacks up higher and is more powerful than a lot of other beaches I've been to. I love this spot, and have met a lot of great people there. I also like seeing kooks get their asses handed to them on the ocean floor - they're usually the ones paddling back and forth in the lineup and acting like idiots, and get jacked right under the lip. LOL. I can sit on the beach all day and just watch people rip during the rare times we get hurricane/Noreaster swell. I love it.

None of you know anything.
Localism does happen at Lido West. Want proof? Come out and watch us on a daily basis. Us, as in a bunch of guys taking it all, surfing all day, and living in town. The people here know its our spot, and they respect that. If you're gunna talk some crap about something you know nothing about, go ahead and act tough. Doesn't bother us none.. we control the break.
