Gilgo
Gilgo is full of nice people on the beach, but a totally bunk spot, surfing wise. People talk about Gilgo like it's Waimea Bay. It's breaks in 2 locations along the entire stretch of beach, and it's susceptible to the famous and very annoying FI sideshore currents. It's either full of teenagers with bad attitudes who can't surf anywhere else but Gilgo or older longboarders who ditch their boards or run you over. I don't even want to get into Gilgo's "prized" surfing instructor and his clan. Gilgo is nice for hanging out and grabbing a beer at the Inn, but if you want consistency in your breaks and actually be challenged when the big swells come around, you either have to go out East or West. And leave the "Gilgo Surfer" attitude at home.

i think gilgo beach is a good spot but theirs alot of kooks and the lifeguards get all pissed off and move us down 2 where theirs no waves
