Additional Surfing Infos
Park at Moluleia Beach Park. Don't bring valuables.
  Overview
Atmosphere Sets are deadly. Only paddle out in the channel when any sets over 4 feet come in. Horizon Sets are common and clean the place out. Don't go right over 5 feet unless you catch a wave all the wave in and paddle back out in the channel.
General Strong waves and deep water break. Shark breeding grounds in the winter time.

be smart!
Went out by myself to boogie board. Had no idea what I was in for. Got rescued by a part-time lifegaurd who happened to notice me floundering in the "trench."

Day Star?
Uhmmm, I dont think the name of this particular wave is "day star", because day star is not very shallow at all on the left or the right(a little when you make it to the inside maybe on the right). The left at day star mushes out into a deep water channel. The spot that is shown is the peak that is between Day Star and Mokulea beach park. I dont know the real name of the spot, but I know it breaks on a real high tide because on low tide the reef pops out in the takeoff zone. It becomes "rideable" although super shallow on high tide and reminds me of a mini version of the "box" Best on the west swells and Kona winds or no wind. They are right about the ice heads in the parking lot though. A lot of guys who are trying to get away from the crowds & idiots on the "Upside" of the north shore come here to surf. So be cool and show a little courtesy and you could end up having the session of your life.

kona winds
Can be fun when the winds cooperate, but its pretty rare. Theres actually a couple of nice spots in the area when the Kona winds are blowin. Just be careful because there ain't no lifeguards in the area. Just look at the photo. Definately not for beginers.I used to love camping out down there, but nowadays I wouldn't chance it. You gotta be real careful with the "batu heads" that hang out in the area. Its pretty much an isolated area and cops don't patrol it as often as they should.Theres also some homeless people down there. Some are really cool and will actually hook you up with fresh fish for cheap, but there are a few that beleive they own the beach that they are camping on and try to charge you for parking.
