Howzit from the 60s bras I'm 62 now -snf- but I surfed Kewalo 1965-66 with Bones, Ronny N, Long Russ, Russ Mawae, Stephen, Mooch to name a few. The guys called me "Bobby Boy". We used glassed in skeg boards w/o leashes. No kooks, no crowds, no kidding! Beautiful lefts, the bigger the better it got. We pulled right up to the shoreline and climbed over the rocks to launch. We ate at the San Pan Inn and the KHVH News Heliport was there. My wife and I were there in 04. The way it was is all gone now, beautiful park. We ate at the expensive restaurant and I watched you guys in the sunset. Never stop surfin dudes!

super duper kewalos really is a great wave, but try getting a set wave on a good day and you're likely to get very frustrated. the wave breaks like a machine, nearly the same place everytime, so the takeoff zone is tight, and there's a pretty clear pecking order. often if you do find yourself in good position, some random guy will turn his head and drop in. seriously, i'd say it's harder to get a wave here than a good day at rocky point. great wave tho.

kewalos channel i was bodyboarding at kewalos and i noticed there was no one out at point panic. I wanted to cross the channel to go there. Then I thought there must be a reason no one was crossing the channel. There was like twenty of us out at kewalos and no one at point panic. Then my brother told me the channel is very polluted and shark infested.

sharky watch all the fishing boats coming into the harbor, make sure they aren't chummin the water or cleaning their catch!!! Been a couple close calls cause of the boats and guys fishing off the rock pier, but only small kine shark, no fatalities. Also no surfers allowed to the break just to the right: bobysurfers only, it's legal for the law to confiscate your board and give you a ticket. Epic summer spot on the south shore but ultra crowded when it's good. Watch out for the king of kewala's, guys rips!!! Shoots, charge em!!!

Almost like Corpus Christi I went ta Kowalas and it was damn awesome. Way better than Cortez Bank and Pipeline. The wave had much more power and it was extremely easy ta catch them waves. Similar ta Texas......................home where them buffalo roam.

"Spesho Olympics" A local concerned about........SPELLING? *gasp*. Wow....I didn't know hypocracy existed in Hawai'i? (the W is pronounced with a "V" sound for all you uninformed locals (i'm born and raised here so shut the hell up, maggots)."Stupid Haole". Hmmm This is a site about surf spots. To point out a mistake in spelling then to call someone "stupid" for doing it shows how unintelligent YOU are, fool.Mo' bedda you makeh bebe time. Fo reals.P.S. Any negative response to this will show the rest of the world how low the IQ's are over here. If you are dumb fool then PLEASE.....respond to this comment with negativity. : )

A little history My ohana (brother, cousins) use to surf Kewalo's in the early 60's. Used to be adjacent to a dump and you could actually drive up pretty close to the point. The early 70's was cool with the soul surfing thing going on. Saw a 12 ft. (hawaiian size) great white comming out of the harbour there (no kidding, tuna boats use to "chum" comming in). I fell out of that scene and moved on to other breaks but I am still glad the WAVES remain the same. Keep trucking bro's. Protect, guard, and cherish surf spots. Remember you can always go back (and watch)! God bless...

Sharks Of Course there are sharks at Kewalo. To the left is a deep channel with tons of boat traffic including fishing boats. Sick wave though, sick crowded. Enjoy.p.s. It's full of Haoles, so haoles dont worry. But dont go out there and piss off the locals by doing the typical haole shit. Respect the locals, respect everyone.
