Just down the road from the well known Makapuu break is a smaller, and easier wave known as Baby Makapuu. The small cove sometimes refered to as Cockroach or Blimp's cove is slightly rocky along the shoreline, with small sections of rock on each side. On a good, but unfortunatly rare, day, this spot has about 3 working breaks: the outer and biggest break, the inner-right break, and the always present beach break.

 Additional Information

On the mediocre days, the best, and only, break comes from the rock patch on the right side. It is easy to catch these waves, but you have to turn right away to get.

Atmosphere

This is a very calm and chill spot most of the time. On good days it can be crowded, but it is worth going out in the crowd for. The only problem is the lack of nearby restrooms. It is a 5 minute walk down a rocky trail to get to the nearest ones

Baby Maks.. - Awesome surf spot but lots of reef and water can be very murky.

By Haoleboy , 16-12-2006

Is is Cockroach or Kaupo? A right or left? - The Hawai'ian name for the bay is Kaupo. The nickname is Cockroach. And it's a right, not a left. It is fun at about waist/chest high on a longboard - Nov/Dec/Jan are usually fun here.

- Cockroach bay is perfect for those long fun rides, not too fast, easy going. Not that crowded, bring ur longboard and enjoy the small yet powerful rollers. Just a fun place to surf overall
