As a surfer from California I lived on Maui from 1981 to 1992 working for a charter boat company doing trips to Lanai.
I had some of the best surfing experiences of my life out at Paukukalo and surfed there as often as I could during that time. There and Windmills Left were my favorite waves.
But I would like to echo some of the statements previous about the Locals that surfed there during that period. If you gave respect you were also given respect back.
Funny how perfect the respect thing can work if everyone understands it. And were talking a group of great surfers too! It made surfing there fun! What surfing should be.

"Honseler" or whoever you are
Your negative attitude only perpetuates ill will for all.I can see your type- swearing the waves, at nature, and blaming everyone but yourself for your inferiorities and insecurities especially with regard to your brothers in and around the water.Count your blessings and hate not. Live to surf another day!
