Bobo's Haena Access
Bobo's is on the north shore of Kaua'i. Northshore - very near Ke'e Beach which is at the end of Haena road. Walking distance from Ke'e beach, or just park near Cannon's surf site and move down north. The land area fronting Bobo's surf spot used to be a nudist colony in the late sixties/early seventies - it was called Taylor Camp.

Additional Surfing Infos
This surf site is named after Stanford Morinaka, aka: "Bobo Satomo". You must be a good goofy foot kamikaze surfer, like the guy that it was named after. Just stay deep and high in the tube. You could ride it backside, but you gotta be hot to do it.
  Overview
Atmosphere It's a wicked place when it's big, and very shallow as the wave is breaking on the reef, maybe about six to eight inches deep.
General It's a super hollow, fast tube ride. It's a goofy foot dream.

Giving credit where due...
Bobo's surf site is named after Stanford Morinaka, a Kaua'i native- and a good old time surfer during mid60s 70s, and early 80's. Family, friends & surfers call him by his surf nickname: "Bobo" and "Bobo- Satomo". Friend Carlos Andrade (another good old time surfer) named the place after Bobo while they surfed the area together in the early 70s. Bo's still around now as a Kaua'i eastside Builder - and will still share good surf stories now and then, will even give surf advice to young-uns too.He surfed in the early days among surfers: Carlos Andrade, Bobby Kama, Gary Medina, Titus (then known as Nihi boy to the older local surfers), Pancho Murayama, and some other good unknown surfers of that time were Jimmy Lucas (lived across tunnels then), other oahu surfers: Hackman, Sutherland, Tiger Espere, and Mike Kuhns (Kuhns could really surf Hanalei bay), together he also surfed with Paji, Les Wong and Gerry Lopez in the 70's. Bo said that one of the best noseriding surfers was David Nuuhiwa , and one terrific female surfer he knew was Diane Ellis - she was a goofy foot and conventional surfer.Surfing in the 60s and 70s all around the island was the best - No crowds, surfing early morning glassy till blownout, then the guys would return in the evening to surf the good spots. That was the good old days, no crowds, and in those days the outsiders were humble and respectful along with the local surfers.

"Get It Right" is Wrong! Shame on you...
If you were a GOOD surfer you would know. Maybe you need to ASK Titus Kinimaka or Carlos Andrade WHO he named this spot after! In addition, you can find this information published in: Hawaii Place Names - Shores, Beaches, And Surf Sites (page 32)or go to: www.ulukau.org (And shame on that kook woman named "Bo-Bo" for saying it's named after her.) Now, Go Get Your Facts Straight from the horse's mouth! ASK Titus or Ask Carlos, and check the Book too! Get the truth first eh!
