Galveston - East Beach Access |
| |
Drive to the end of East Beach in Galveston, the break actually is inside of the jetties on the ship channel side. When facing the ship channel, go to the left until you get to some barrier-posts on the beach. This is the start to a state park. You will see that this beach is in the form of a point. You'll see the break from there. |

Additional Surfing Infos |
| | This will only break when the Gulf side is too chossy because of the size. The large swell wraps around the jetty and comes in small, yet clean on the ship channel side. When the gulf is 10' and choppy, this particular break is 3-4' and semi-clean. The prevailing winds from the southwest strenthen and cause rough seas, since this break faces the ENE, the SW wind actually acts as a side/offshore wind. Listen to AM 1610MHz on the Radio and keep an ear ouf for frocasts/conditions of 8+' and you may just have a winner. It's hard to catch, but on the right combination of weather it gets nice (for Texas).

Overview |
| |
Atmosphere |
The currents are tremendous at this spot due to rising and falling tides in the channel. Be careful to not go out too far! The break is always empty, even when working, and few know about it. Here's a tip...when the Gulf on Seawall looks completely white from foam, go to this spot. Of those rough days, it may work 1 out of 4 times. Be patient and you will catch it right. Next time I'll take pictures! |

General |
When working, this provides a peeling wave not found on the Texas coast. It can be tremendously long and glassy, but not too powerful. One time I probably caught a 100m ride on a 4-5' swell. It was sweet! |
