Swim across the channel from Isla Blanca park or drive to Brownsville take highway 4 to Boca Chica state park until it dead ends at the beach, drive 4-8 miles down the beach to the jetty. There are good sand bars up and down the beach as well.
Paddled over one day when Isla Blanca was sideshore chopcicles... Well worth the paddle! Because the waves wrap on NE swell, paddling next to the jetty is easy. Probably better stay in Isla Blanca for S, SE, E swells though.

definite regional classic
best time to surf is definently cold fronts because of the waves from padre but for texas these waves can be really nice, probably the best in texas on a good day, with tropical storms or hurricanes coming in this is a stooooooked place to surf.no real hazards, breaks are by the jettys
