Re: surf forecasting?
My two boys, 11 and 15 and myself are new to surfing, and have been heading over to Pensacola when small swells are forecasted. We were down the for the Edouard swell, and had fun the first and last day of the swell, but were just beat to hell when it was at peak. But anyway, since we live in New Orleans I have also been interested in checking out Fourchon. I've been checking out this site for wave heights, however have never driven down to see how the numbers on the site translate to actual wave at Fourchon Beach. I heard the folks at the local surf shop surf Fourchon, might be worth a trip over there and talk with them. NO Surf Shop. Oh, here the link to the Buoy at Grand Isle:
surf forecasting?
so i've treked down to grande isle from new orleans a couple of times when the surf has supposedly been up (according to weather.com) only to encounter waves so small that i couldn't even catch anything on my 9 foot longboard. can anyone suggest another way to get a more accurate forecast? i haven't surfed in months, and i'm going a bit crazy.
