Best on distant Hurricanes swells. In photo one the winds were still 40-50 mph.Two jetties on either side of the Venice Inlet provide the best surfing on the Southwest Florida coast.By far the best place to catch a southwest swell, North Jetty is one of the few places on the flat coast that will hold a big wave.

Gangs of wave hungry gulf coasters and a few east coast hardcores make the scene on hurricane swells. Strong wave on a swell with large shifty peaks that can suprise you. Most people think the gulf is weak, but it has its days just like anywhere else.

Hard to catch if you dont live there you've got to keep your eye on hurricanes and gulf winter lows to catch it good.

I have caught the north jetty really nice. Chest to head high super clean. Take off at the tip of the jetty. peels left all the way to the beach. You could ride it with your eyes closed. Watched it real close from o-ville. kept a close eye on bouys, cams ,models, ect.. Caught it twice PERFECT!!!!

question. how does one get an opinon on a spot? how many days out of the year are you there with your eyes out starving? all i hear is a bunch of blah blah blahsounds like there is alot of negativity without any appreation of what you have when it is before you. what happened to the STOKE?????????wha do you surf in a pissed off mood the whole tyme with your face all scrunched up ,like you and your buddy just shot each othr in the ass with testtosterone. sure go about waisting your tyme griping about small things,But i will be having so much more fun than you!!!!!!!!!!
