east coaster i came to this place by chance and it fired during Wilma..honest to god head high,aqua-green barrels.it closed out occasionally but what the fuck,it's Sarasota.Locals say it's only been doing it's thing for like a month, about how often they get decent waves here..A good spot to know for next hurricane season though.

I remember Elena I was like 7 years old and Elena came up in the gulf. Anna Maria Island was going off!!!! We bodysurfed it for hours. That experience pretty much got me hooked on waves.

12 foot Gulfcoast... Bettre belive it!Lived here all 21 years of my life in Indian Rocks Beach, been surfing for 11 of them.Hurricane Elena and Hurricane Opal,Indian Rocks to Honeymoon Island.I wento out at IRB and drifted to Murbicks(no longer in commision).solid 4-6' hardcore dumping barrels (lefts and rights but lefts were hollower and fatster and steeper) with 7-8' sets and freakishly huge 10-12' mackers!God I will never forget Opal!

damnstraight you must be talking TS Gablriel... that must have been insane. I surfed Turtle mid-December 2001 on a south swell. Nice lefts. Sure beats Siesta.

no title It got damn near 12ft last winter with 40kt winds offshore and buoy readings upt to 17ft at 12 sec, Full of shit? I think not its just a matter of how often

no title surf trip, you are right it definitely isn't worth taking a surf trip to. it is blown out most days, but it also gets very good at times. it is definitely a "regional classic" compared to other breaks in the area

no title you are both a bunch of crackheads. look at what it says... HOLDS UP TO 12ft. that means it can hold that size, not that it is that size a lot (or ever for that matter). the break has that potential though.

Don't plan a surf trip here Are you crazy? This place sucks, shouldn't even be listed. Frequency is the real question here and when ther are waves it's usually blown out and gutless...and waist high. Alan Johnson, pro surfer for Redsands, is from here. But, he doesn't live here anymore. I used to live here too, but I don't anymore. Looks like a trend starting.
