Gulf Side
When i was younger I would always head over to the East coast and do my surfing over there, now with work, family and house obligations it's harder to get out so I think as hurricane season approaches I'll give the Gulf side a try since it's minutes away verses hours.

I just moved to Florida recently from Cali. I've traveled to Hawaii to surf the North Shore and some other secret spots. Best of all, I'm only 14. So i can't complain. But I went out to Sunset with some friends i met here in Fl to surf. WOW!!! is all i can really say. It's so crowded. I was out there and spotted some dolphins and i seen a few fins too which i thought was sharks but who knows. It's a fun place to surf but i've seen better. But its ok for the West Coast of Fl. I wish i could've stayed in Cali but i had a major surf accident and my parents made me move here with my uncle so i would stay out of the surf. Nothing will keep me outta the water. Little do they know, i've been to the East Coast a couple of times with some friends that can drive. I just wanna go back to Cali:-( Much love to all the surfers and do be polite to beginngers b/c u were one once. Hang ten as always:-)

good average spot
good spot for florida..... pretty much local there if you can say a local for the gulf.. way too crowded for me now i only go there if its big and blown out with a bad drift only because no "begginers" can make it out. i surfed ivan at reddington rocks and a few irb spots and it was empty i heard rumor on wendesday there was no parking from caddys south... people need to find new spots and quit the crowding

surf report
08-06-04 surfed waist high from noon till 3. It's choppy, you just have to wait for a clean set. Gret for skim and short boards. Leave anything over 8 foot at home for now.

There are a lot of beginners here...but I cant get mad at them because I know that I was one of them at one point of time, and they have to learn somewhere so give em a break and just share the waves...and if you think your too good for em then move to California!

please...
find another spot...stop clogging the water, way to many people who have no idea how to surf and just sit there and get in the way, or those that think they can and like to cut you off for a 2 sec ride

also --. Indian Rocks Beach
Winter of 1982 -- surfed there no wetsuit, wind was whipping, cold as %^&* , froze my %^& off -- and they caught 3 huge Dusky sharks off the pier that morning -- didn't know it until I saw the pictures in the paper the next day -- ouch!!!!!! To this day I have never been colder surfing in all my life. Just bought the latest top of the line Ripcurl full wetsuit out in CA :) Bring on the cold!
