hey anon. your best bet is to keep watch of the NOAA nearshore forecast and dont trust it more than 24 hours as our surf is super wind sensitive. summer usually means a lot of flat spells, but there are odd swells that come through that can be really good, and hurricane swells are the best. per surf spots, the pier is a reliable spot thats easy to find. you can try looking down the beach for a less crowded spot but the sandbars are shifty and you may end up doing a lot of looking. best of luck and have fun!

good waves (sometimes) really nice people Every time I have been to the Gulf I have met some of the coolest people, seen a ton of beautiful women, and, on a few occasions, ridden some really fun waves! If you are in the Clearwater area, try out Frenchy's for eats. The guy in pic one and six is out charging 3x oh waves, on a longboard!!!

Who are you guys defending the gulf to? No matter where you live somebody else out there thinks where you live sucks. I have surfed the florida gulf coast several times and had some solid days that nobody back in Jersey belives are possible. I have surfed some epic days in NJ that when I lived in San Diego nobody would believe either. A word of advice, stop talking about how good your surf is before it is too late. You may wake up early one day for a dawn patrole and see a bunch of cars you don't recognize with out of state tags parked at your favorite spot. Relex and enjoy your waves because no matter where you surf there is nothing like being a local and having your spot wired.
