Uh, lots of kelp
breaks like twice a year, in the middle of a giant kelp patch. You can't even ride the wave because the kelp is so thick. Even tried taking off my leash, total joke.

Sea monkeys
DON'T go out there. I once saw a little grom that hid in the rocks and ate rats and seagulls. He then went out to the reef and got eaten by a killer sea monkey. I think his name was Boris

solimar breaks
about two weeks ago when that huge south swell came up, solimar was pumping they were all going of, emma, soli, pitas, and even mondos (aka faria) faria was breaking deep, pitas was barreling but it was way shallow, this place is great when a big south comes or even better a nw swell, i'll be back in december

Only when it's BIG
and when it's big, the kelp is a major hazard. Last time we had lobster bouys coming over in the lip. It's a fun wave, but I can think of better on the same swell. VTA Local nailed it; give it a miss.

surfing the reef
a tad sketchy paddling 20 minutes out there, seeing as its a deep water paddle and the depths are massive and a seal colony convenes at a nearby creekmouth. if you can keep from thinking about sharks underneath you for a 20- 40 foot wave, it can be a decent time.
