All Surfers category, but this wave can pound and dump. Main peak breaks off a reef that sometimes is and sometimes isn't covered with sand. Some kelp. Jacks pretty hard, takeoffs are pretty steep and you need to pick and choose on the rights because a lot of them will close out pretty frequently. The lefts are better and barrels can be had both ways. Multiple peaks up and down the beach.
Overview
Atmosphere
In summer with a good south swell this beach is packed with all kinds of people - cute girlies, families, etc. Nice mellow scene. Good sand but avoid high tides for surfing and hanging out - it'll wash over the width of the beach tot he rocks. Good skimming. Fun place to hang when the weather is nice. Really fun waves up and down the beach. They'll snap your board pretty quickly - definately not gutless stuff - and they'll stuff you too so while I wouldn't consider it hazardous you should know your limits. Pollution note: people get sick here from lagoon and street runoff after a rain - lots of diharrea and vomiting-type stuff. The water actually gets stinky and kinda filmy. Usually Dec/Jan/Feb/Mar after really winter rains.
General
It's where I take out-of-town family and friends in the summer when they want to go to a beach and I want to get a fun session in. Crew here is on it when it's good and like every spot close to Pleasure, you gotta expect that when it IS good, the eastside rippas will be kiing it, especially at the main peak and down at the south end (Rockview). Let them have their local spot if it's crowded - there's plenty of good peaks when it's on in between the two.

Localism
People... you miss the point here. Yes, there are a few guys that are drunk wash-ups that never made it to the pros and are mad at the World in SC. But the real problem is attitude. Just like you "out of towners" complain about the "a**hole locals", I complain about the idiots that claim their place that aren't even from here, or just moved into town and start throwing vibe. Keep it cool, feel out the skill level out in the water, and use your best judgement on where you should be. Don't get in the way if you're over your head. Even I don't paddle out at Stockton when it's going off. There are plenty of pros out there (Don't kid yourself SoCal, they do rip just as much as you guys do, not to mention have balls for riding "real" big waves) and I know where I stand in a lineup. Don't be f&^ing morons and everything will be cool. I grew up 2 blocks from two-six and still live within 6 blocks of the place, but don't consider myself a "local". I surf everywhere now, anywhere where the crowd is low and the waves are decent. Just please don't allow more Disneyland Hook parking lots to develop.

mellow out kids
I'm from out of town, but I've frequented this spot all my life. Whats great about this spot is it's accessability, cool vibes, and of corse the waves. Until recently I've never seen any signs of localism, and presumed that it was only a rumor. I dont know how these locals can be so territorial of a surf-spot. It's not your wave just cause you live in town, and it's not your backyard (unless you live on the cliff which I really doubt). Have these agrro locals forgot the whole reason why we paddle out?? A bad attitude in the water is the wrong attitdue to have. Don't paddle out if you're going to chastise other surfers, stay at home and be mean to your dog. ps. People that post messages on here that hate this site sure spend a lot of time on here writing messages.
