Additional Surfing Infos

  Overview
Atmosphere People are usually friendly. Don't be a bodyboarder on the inside and dropping in on surfers. Also some Longboard/shortboard disputs on good days. Perfect for beginners and good for all surfers.
General Literally: A wave of relief for San Francisco business men that surf.(and Women, lots of Women)

my 2cents on linda mar
- waters cold
- wave is closing out more often than not
- fog
- grumpy old men and beastly chicks (mostly)
- nothing to eat and nothing to do (besides surf)
- don't bother showing up on the weekend unless you're getting up early (or have a helmet)

in summary:
every so often things pull together and u have a lot of fun but you aren't likely to see this happen unless you live here and check it everyday. if you work in san mateo county and need a surrogate home break this beach is probably your best option. otherwise if you're just the weekend warrior surfer or want to have a fun day learning with friends just head down to cowells. its sunnier, more consistent, more bikinis, more stuff to do post-surf. and theres plenty of other spots in SC so you wont get so vibed by locals. localism isn't very vicious at linda mar and for the most part the people are great but you will get the clear impression you aren't wanted on a crowded weekend day. it's a shared frustration that comes with the break, nothing personal.

Prefer elsewhere, but not bad
Only surfed there 5 times. It's not too bad. I like to sit outside on a SUP or 10 footer when it's small and be on the wave first. That's crowd control. I don't mind if you drop in, just don't complain because you can't catch a wave.

Solution?
you guys shouldn't complain about what linda mar has become. Every Area needs a spot to dump all the beginners. If you really eat, breath and sleep surfing and you are a true waterman, you should be out at ocean beach, montara, rockaway, etc. Linda Mar is plagued by go nowhere walls or mushy lackluster shoulders. One important note, it will be one of the few spots in the area that will be offshore with a storm that has stiff south winds.
