Take a boat and set a heading for 180 degrees magnetic out of San Diego Bay. It's the most Northern tip of North Island, Isla de los muertos. anchor just to the south in Seal Cove and paddle around. WATCH OUT FOR THE SHARKS
Line up directly in front of the big rock that sticks out like a sore thumb and follow the wave from there. The left is kindy mushy but the right is really hollow on a low tide and rides out for quite aways down the leeward side of the island. Needs a large NW for that. 285 degrees or so for the swell to really start showing
Overview
Atmosphere
Great wave. Surfed it quite a few times. Good for bodyboarding too. Lots of seals in the water = BIG SHARKS. So be careful. Also there has been a large growth of kelp in the are lately. Watch out. Good fishing when the surf dies.
General
Mysto wave. Rarely breaks.. When it does, it's solid. Shoots!!

shark attacked in La Jolla
I attacked a white shark at Hospitals in October of '03. It had poisonous fangs and lasers for eyes. I let the shiela go once I realized it was not my normal prey.
