big rock compared to oside? crazy -
Why would you compare oside pier to big rock on a big day? Apples and oranges. Big rock is a bitchin gnarly drop fast left reef break, that rarely breaks, and breaks more kooks boards than I've ever seen. I love them both, totally different spots that should not be compared.

O-Side sucks compared to Big Rock - For all those people surfing o-side who says it is the best wave ever and that includes john detrick you should try surfing Big Rock on a big day

angry samoans - I live in oceanside and im sick of those dorks in carlsbad. The culture in carlsbad consists of upper class stereo typical white people, and tourists. Oceanside deserves more respect. Our community of skin heads, hippys, surfers, cholos, and samoans should be respected.

40 years of Pier - I first started surfing at Oceanside pier over 40 years ago, when I would have my Mom drop me and my 10' Doyle model off after school.I couldn't get my arm around my board, so I balanced it on my head down to the water.Back then wetsuits were unheard of, and it didn't bother me a bit.Very often I was the only one out- being goofyfoot I always have preferred the North side, and to this day when the sand builds on the bottom just right, there's a big, thick peak that wedges off the pilings and creates some classic barrels going left, and a short, intense right that can hold up even when swell is closing out the lefts. The right is kinda a specialty wave for experienced pier vets, as you will often have to navigate through guys paddling out, fishing lines, and those weird boils that form on the wave face, as you race straight for those pesky pilings. But the left can offer a ride hallfway down to the south harbor jetty if you get one just right, or a fat wedging barrel off the main peak.In over 40 years I have seen a lot of great days, and I've been blessed enough to have ridden a few great waves there.I've even instructed my son to paddle out and spread my ashes in the lineup on the north side when i go, but untill then I plan to surf Oceanside pier 'till i can't stand anymore. And then I'll start to body board it!

I love Oceanside - I'm from the SouthBay and I have routinely found myself jamming down to Oceanside. I think the locals of Oceanside are pretty damn cool. I've have always had a great time surfing there and asking the locs questions on certain swells. Always have been treated with respect from the smallest clean days to the biggest gnarliest days. Oceanside is Da-Place! Go Bros!

Oside - I been surfing oside for a long time, and overall it has some good waves. I've caught waves from next to south side pier all the way to that hotel and the other side of that one parking lot. I think this spot doesnt get the respect it needs. This last NW swell brought 10-15 foot faces and i was there, just not in the water. The hype on the pier was nuts. There were just 4 bodyboarders going left on south side pier getting in and out barrels. Nice wave during big swells. I'll put some pics of big oside on here

Bad vibes in O.C. - in and out of the water the military people are no prob and as for the lokes there is no real bad vibes. I live and surf O'side and i have no problem with visitors. i don't get why the OC is so crazy about locals only and for you who are into the "this is my spot and only locals can surf here" ....
well you can shove it up yours!!! the Oceanside guy says the oceans are for every one so pull out and let the outsiders drop in its not like he/she can paddle out there every day I mean come on your a local, you can.
this is pretty much how all of my friends feel about this and how the vibe is down here PS oside goes off in the winter
