Sand depletion
We are so sad that sand depletion has turned this stretch of beach into a backed off closed out. Its gets worse every year and soon it will be just a deep backwash, bouncing off the sea-wall. Sand depletion is ruining our surf zones. Just look at what S.B. is like now. Let the rivers flow and the surf will come back.

Del Mar Photos
The photo with the rocks MIGHT be of the rocks down by 29th street at the inlet, during a super high tide. I submitted the other two which I took from out in front of our family house at 19th/20th street. -Starkey

re: not really
15th sucks. The waves are always mushy and overcrowded, its a zoo of 14 year-old kids on thrusters scrambling for leftovers. Whereas the beachbreaks are way less crowded, often better wavewise, and you'll most likely get more waves to yourself

Not really
Pure backed off closeout 99% of the time. 15th has way better surf.

THe picture: not del mar
There isn't any rocks along the stretch of del mar beach break. Its all sand. The picture is of a different spot. I surf there multiple times a week

nice stretch of beach...but thats it
beautiful, one of best beaches in San Diego county. standard beach break though, mostly dumpy close-outs, really never gets very good...(I live right on the beach at 27th street)

Let's Keep It Clean
One of the few crowded spots in SD that gets good but itsn't completely overrun by attitude. There will always be some dickheads at the better streets, and too avoid that simply steer clear. Del Mar surfers tend to follow the herd mentality: if there's lots of people out, it must be good. Not true. Plenty of peaks up and down, spread out and find your own. They all have their day.
