Additional Surfing Infos
Park an sano and walk.... surf with a fast board otherwise you wont make it across the seccions
  Overview
Atmosphere The spot is really nice...very hollow right, fast, and isn't dangerous, dont drop in, mainly all longboarders, there are two peaks, when they join because sand acumulates, they become one single epic pointbreak
General Nice wave... when el nino comes, and there are a lot of rains, the sandbar grows making the wave an entire single wave, not the usually 2 peaks.

Better in winter
grew up surfing here, can get really good on a good sized nw, pretty much the only spot in the area besides uppers that handles nw'er, frustrating for sb'er, way too many lb'ers and definate party wave atmosphere

Not hollow
The overview says "hollow fast" wave. This is definitelyNOT hollow. Why do you think there are so many LB's in the water? Decent wave, but SanO is probably better. Butif you've got to go right....Closes out on S SE swells. Most of the Marines are cool...

Jarhead Local
Yes, there are some hard charging Marines who look like any other kook on any other surf break up the coast. But there are plenty of Marines who grew up on this break (long before '82)and have just as much or more style than half the fat, long-haired, hippie freak, tree-hugging civilians walking up from Old Man's. Churches is a fun break and most people are pretty cool. Don't listen to anyone complaining about the crowds. If you surf in California, you are going to surf in a crowd. That is like saying the pubs are too crowded in Ireland.
