Bird Shit is an "inside" circular flat rock reef. It is situated at the top of a small bay. Direct access is difficult and many surfers have been injured taking the shortcut next to the parking lot. Paddle north from "No Surf" beach or South from Osprey is safer.
Bird Shit has three different waves. The Left, a short bowling wave that slows down for a few cutbacks. The Right, a top to bottom suck out barrel that abruptly stops and turns to mush and the reform off the right that mushes down the line for another 100 feet or so getting faster and faster as it approaches a rock shelf.

Just because I can write a book on this spot doesn't mean I will. Instead, I'll just give a few rules so you don't run afoul of the locals that surf here regularly.Come alone- no one likes to see this place overrun in the span of five minutes, which it can be if you bring your buds from El Cajon. If you have to have a circle jerk all over this place, at least stagger your entrances to the water.Come down the cliff- osprey and no surf entrances will reveal your kook-ness before you even catch a wave. Unless it's overhead and a 4'+ tide, you should have no problems.The rip will own you if it's big- sitting halfway to osprey is another surefire indicator of kookness.Other than that, have fun, the break is pretty decent once in a while, but has had more shitty days than good ones in the last few years...
