yup - Yeah I used to snorkle behind that sandbar when I was a kid the water used to be exeptionaly clean and clear. but there was something about the way the sand built up in 89 that made wave world class for a season or two...I think it was 89.
remember when you could offroad out there. hell I used to ride my ATV out there and on fiesta island. SD is to Fing crowded now

- Actually Jimbo, it was a lot better before the storm of Winter 1983 opened up a channel next to the Jetty. The peak was better shaped and more consistent and the water was cleaner...this was when you could walk straight to the Jetty without getting wet...before "Dog Beach"...and you could drive right up to the Jetty.
It took a long time to recover from that storm...even though it still fires, it's not as good as it used to be.

back in da day - the place use to wedge..rebound off the jetty and A frame take off -good sand bar. back when a wipe out meant your board was jetty food and then there where the rock waves.....later trout
