Strange Place Scored it once at shoulder-high, perfect peeling rights ala Leo Cabrillo. Been back a half dozen times and everytime it is small and ultra crowded, and when it does get good there always seems to be a greedy dickhead or two hoggin all the waves. Thus, this place can be exceedinlgy frustrating, and in summer the campground often fills up and you will be turned away. Pretty freakin lame in that regard. Can get good, but the usual megacrowds and small waves suck big time. What's happened to surfing? It's way too popular now... when places like this get packed regularly, swell or no swell.

last time i was here, the waves were really small, but perfect, i only saw a right though, but in that picure there's a left breaking, when does that happen? being a goofy footer, i'm curious about that...

Nice at the right time. Caution: River water is filthy. It's picked up tons of stuff on its way to the ocean. Hepatitis risk is there. Can be pretty windy. You risk getting arrested walking on the path as it's privately owned. Don't scare the horseback riders. Park at Molera & walk if you want, it takes about a half hour. One guy floated down the river so as not to touch the land.

Fickle But sweet. Was here a bit back.Watching it from the beach forever- never saw any good sets, then tide came up, wind backed down. Only one other guy out- a longboarder here for the first time.He was surprised to see any waves. We had an awesome time.High tide seemed much better.I sat a bit deeper and further out waiting for the bigger ones.Sat right next to the rock of the point- felt like Leo Carillo.Took off super deep against the rock and let the wave peel to the shore.Watch out for the large cobblestone bottom at low tide.Very cool scenery and nice walk out from parking. You can look south along the coast and see one of monterey areas best big wave spots.

Not bad. . . if you longboard Went there about 3 weeks ago and it was pretty nice. A little onshore and about 5 people out total. Cold if you compare to SD. They were busting big in fornt of that rock, but if you ratgher not get grinded you can surf the cove for some nice little waist high waves with good shape. High tide will make it total mush though.

cajones I had a low opinion of the place as far as waveriding. But that was because I was surfing the shorebreak in the rivermouth. On one website I steadily find forecasts of 5-7', and would drive down only to find knee to waist at best. That was until I enviously watched a guy who had the cajones, and helmet, to paddle out to the where the waves peak - near the big rock right off the point at the rivermouth. Incredible shortboard ride if you don't hamburger yourself right into the rocks.

schwag Every time I surf this place, it is a letdown. What a weak wave. Neat hike down to the beach though and lots of cool driftwood. Give it a pass as far as waveriding is concerned.

too funny. Those of us who have been surfing the spot since we were knee high to a duck, know that this spot can be good. It is just a matter of faith. Go to point sur, or garapatta if you like. You are just bitter cuz you didn't slow down enough to enjoy the walk down to the beach.

crazy kooks i surfed Molera today and yesterday, light offshore and a shoulder high swell, epic, only me and my brother. but hey if your going to surf pt. sur thats fine with me, but you got a better chance meeting a shark then getting a good wave there. whatever.
