Schooner's
The left is on big/solid SW swells and comes across the reefs to the creek. Pretty rare. The "reef" north of Bowling Balls isn't Whiskey Shoals", that's a bit further on down the road.

A local
Schooners isn't a bad wave. There's an outside reef at "Bowling Balls" that gets really good on bigger swells. Have seen a few hollow lefts and long, workable rights there. January 12th there was a good day.

Re: same pic
I think the reef south of moat is called whiskey shoals, looks like a fun day. Do recall the swell size/period?

Re:Same Pic as the Cove
The shot and the little reef wave was just to the north of Schooner's between that and Moat.Fun morning session, havent seen like that for a while. Somehow the same pic ended up on the PA page.!?

Same pic as the cove
The pic posted here is the same one that's been posted under PA cove. Which is it? Also, doesn't look like Schooners, which is actually a beach break several miles south of the cove, looks like one of the reefs in between the two.

It's not the best, but....
Local surfer girl here...I know, it's not the best break, but good for newbies besides the left in Point Arena. Slim pickings on this part of the coast, we take what we can get.

Testies 1 2
My too sharp 3rd fin sliced my tea bag on a fun day at this place. Long drive to get stitched up. The scrotum doesnt have much feeling in it so no painkiller was needed. Go figure. Always surf here on a incoming tide. its your only chance for any shape.

This place never breaks.
I've seen it work once in five years. Give it a miss.

Typical beach break
Schooners is typical Nor-Cal beach break. Usually crappy close-outs and mush burgers, almost always blown out, ocassionally glassy peeling perfection.

Not the best beach break in the county, but servicable when its too small for the local reefs and not too windy. Virgin creek is usually better beach break, but not worth the drive if you are already in south county.
