The Breakwater itself is in Redondo but the waves are in Hermosa. Find a parking spot at the southern end of Hermosa near the King Harbor Marina, if you can. Once on the beach , look South. It will be obvious if it is working. Or ask for a window seat at the Chart House and sip cocktails while surfers slip into barrels. Additional Information
South Bay's big winter wave spot. Waves bounce off breawater to form a hollow wedging peak that goes into a horrendous close out. The easiest way out the back is to jump off the rocks. Lots of juice. A good place to ride a big gun.
Atmosphere
The only place to take off is behind the peak on the side wave and backdooring it. Its like getting shot out of a cannon only you stay in the barrel until the the bonecrushing closeout. It gets rediculously crowded and shoulder hoppers usually get pitched over the top of the tuberiders.
General
Its a great spectator wave for big barrels and multi surfer wipeouts. Sit on the wall and join in with the hooting

surf with respect - moved from no cal to so cal over 20 years ago. didnt know you wernt sapos2 surf break wall. but did and showd a little respect and found a diff. familly of bros that will be my brothers for life now live in co but if im paddling out theres no other place 4 me!!! show some respect!
