The Breakwater itself is in Redondo but the waves are in Hermosa. Find a parking spot at the southern end of Hermosa near the King Harbor Marina, if you can. Once on the beach , look South. It will be obvious if it is working. Or ask for a window seat at the Chart House and sip cocktails while surfers slip into barrels.
South Bay's big winter wave spot. Waves bounce off breawater to form a hollow wedging peak that goes into a horrendous close out. The easiest way out the back is to jump off the rocks. Lots of juice. A good place to ride a big gun.
Overview
Atmosphere
The only place to take off is behind the peak on the side wave and backdooring it. Its like getting shot out of a cannon only you stay in the barrel until the the bonecrushing closeout. It gets rediculously crowded and shoulder hoppers usually get pitched over the top of the tuberiders.
General
Its a great spectator wave for big barrels and multi surfer wipeouts. Sit on the wall and join in with the hooting

You gentleman need to get a life, surfing isn;t everything, bit deal its a piece of beach, God made for all not for any specific group, I think life was meant to live and not to bitch about a little piece of beach. I am aware of localism and the locals , my brother has been a part of the localism at that beach all his life, I think he died because of it , another life wasted.

I surfed the B-wall for 20 years. From when I couldn't surf till I was catching the biggest sets. Me and my mentor Frosty sat outside with the biggest boards, paddled hard and were always rewarded and respected. I watched the yougans come up and rip. If you think the B-wall dosen't happen your a fool. The Luhrsens are good a fine people, as far as the arrest, everyone makes a mistake. We were all young and did things we are not proud of. If you say you didn't, your a lier. I surfed there and never ever had to fight. Grow up and be respectfull, you might be suprised.
