I had lots of fun with the small summer waves here. I was riding my friend's funshape 6'10" fish for the first time and learning how to use the rail to turn. I got two 4 ft waves all the way across the beach, very fun, had to do a floa More...
pic 2
pic #2 above is clearly bunkers, not moonstone.

yes i have to agree with the shark
moonstone can be really crappy like inn this picture of small, doubled up close outs or it can be reeling in super long rights and lefts.....one right after another, with many sections, going all the way in almost....and it can break pretty far out....i hate hoods....but i think i get high off of so many ice cream headaches....

shark
here's the deal. moonstone and the sand bar face different directions and have very different geography so they catch swell differently and have different wind patterns. If you need to ask if it's gonna be good somewhere based on moonstone, you should probably just surf moonstone and call it a night. I remember a year and a half ago where for 2 months straight I surfed "PERFECT" waves down there every day. BIG lefts would come in and break continuosly over several sand bars reeling from 25 feet all the way to the beach sometimes spitting up to 7 times on one makeable wave. there was a really sweet section on the middle of the wave with a mind warping square refracted barrel section like ive never seen anywhere else. Now i live in hawaii, and i dont think i've found a wave here that even compares.
