disappointed!! - We tried 10 days in a row. Nothing but slop, and a sketchy rock reef with plently of stuff to dodge. Last year we were in Yakutat. Plenty of fun waves, just need to watch the rips. I'd go back to Yakutat again in a minute. People were nicer and real. Lot of attitudes for marginal waves in Sitka.

Fickle at best - These photo's are from a very few days a year that this place even works. (____) is right, Go to a warm place if you want perfection. You always run the risk of slipping anchore while your in the water. Then you'd be stuck on the beach for who know how long. Don't come here if you even think you like it ez. Only come here if you want an adventure, have a big smile and have patience for those who can get out af often as they'd like. Again a smile is a must :) This is our planet and places like this need aloha!

not as good as it looks - the wave in these pictures break fight on a sketchy reef. i went up there for a month this fall (when it was supposed to be good) and only got it once. then a boat full of kooks that paid for a lesson or somthing showed up to pick up the sloppy on-shore leftovers. total dog! save your $ go somewhere warm!

WOW is right! - Check out Coldsalt.com they are the local surf shop in Sitka. temp ranges from 65* in the summer to 40* in the winter... Check Buoy 46084 for current temps.

- Check alaskasurfing.com It seems to be the most extensive collection of Southeast Surfing Images. Im jealous of Kruzof island, Juneau has no waves. We do have a few feet of powder right now though...
