sharks
i laughed at the guy who is scared of sharks here. white sharks don't like the canadian cold water coastline. they only come up to oregon and very rarely reach washington coastline. there have only been a couple attacks in washington in history. nothing has ever been seen/recorded in the tofino area.

cox bay can rip
i was just in the area it was good (6 ft and calm winds) when cox isn't going try incinerator rock just down the road it gets sick there also chesties (a little finicky but can get good when others aren't) in general a real nice area people crap on about localism but i have never had a problem in the 6 or 7 times i've surfed round there also neah bay is cool in washington just go to the pub there, buy the locals a round (or two) and you'll have no probs, sick waves round there

Cox bay rocks
Anyone who says Cox Bay doesnt get big is some kind of moron because in the winter its constantly got too much swell to surf and the fall is basically 8 foot offshore and beautiful for most of september and october. Cox gets really good you just have to be on it and apparently some of you arent!

locals
I know everybody checks this thing to see if their favorite spots get blown up in popularity, so I'm kind of using it to comunicate. I was up in Tofino with a couple bodies about a month ago. We were the guys from santa clara. we didnt score the surf that great, but definately see the potential. the people we met were world class though. i've surfed santa cruz and for a long time, and am more than familiar with unnecisary uncool vibes. none of that in Tofino. we were brought to sick parties, smoked out, the works. treated like family. you guys rock, and have a place to stay in the bay area for sure.
