There is a harbour here too where sets are cleaner protected from strong winds. All along the Black Sea coast there are waves mainly in the winter months, but Karaburun with the harbour has some better shape waves due to the way the sand is set up. Not a classic but on a par with many UK beach breaks.

Atmosphere
You can park right by the beach. The area is a sleepy little fishing harbour so you will get some funny looks from the locals who have probably never seen anyone surf there before. I think I am the first.
General
It's no classic but when you live in Istanbul it is a huge relief to know that you don't have to fly for hours to get a surf, only an hour drive from the city. Some dodgey rips now and then but nobodys going to die! Photos to come, still in the camera.
hey I'm trying to get in touch with the person who wrote the comments about surfing the black sea. I have been going up there a bit lately too. wanna share a car or what? i have found a couple of nice spots along there too. Cheers

Surf in Istanbul
I never thought it would be possible to surf in Istanbul. I want to start learning but do you think the location is suitable for beginners? Did you ship your board or can you buy one in Istanbul?
