Topsy - 'Topsy' beach was named after the 'father of Israeli Surfing'& the first board-builder here. He was an exceptional geru-type guy who surfed EVERY swell until he died @ 76. He taught all the Tel-Aviv youngsters to love the sea, respect nature & to be balistic about surfing. His wife Noami & all his kids grew-up living & breathing surfing. His daughter Havana, his sons Nir, Amour & Orian were all Israeli champions & we call this beach 'Topsy" because he built our first surfboards in the storeroom here (which today is a windsurfing clubs store) & he was always with us thru` all weathers, all the storms, all the wave conditions & thru` the 'good & the bad'. When he passed-on to that great 'secret-spot' in-the-sky nobody had ever witnessed so many youngsters at an old guy`s funeral. We all adored him, admired him & valued any advise he gave to us about our greatest love - SURFING!! This beach is dedicated to his memory & for all of us who were fortunate enough to know him, we will never forget that he was our "Neptune" !
