This is the most Overpopulated, overworked stressed out area of England unfortunately in recent years this has transfered into the line up. The surf is generally inconsistent and of poor quality by world standards.
Dominant Swell and Wind Direction : The south coast relies on channel swells that are south to west in direction and are most consistent from September through to November. The Thanet region of kent is unique in that it has beaches that face north east and south and due to its geographical location can pick up North Sea swells as well as channel swells.

overrated?
Can someone explain why people see fit to slap 5 stars, and "top 30 - world calss" on dribbly weak breaks all over the southeast? I mean c'mon - the beaches here have got more stars than North Cornwall - even Hossegor hasn't given itself 5 stars! the southeast is inconcistant, generally weak, small, and murky. Yeah there are decent waves, but a little honesty guys! otherwise whats the bleading point in this website? yuor gonna learn jack shit about new spots when everyone consistantly overates everything just 'cos its home turf.Rant over.
