there is like 3 breaks: the point, infront of the house(middle) and the bay .
In front of the house gets backwshy now though since the new seas defences and the bay doest really work often at all.
The point and the break infront can give long rides (for the isle of wight) can get hollow and when it gets big the rip is realy harsh.
not for begginners, shallow jutty rocks and strong rips + difficult access in ( unless you paddle from harbour, which will knacker you paddling against the rip ) and out.
Overview
Atmosphere
you will see the core surfers from the island out whens theres swell .. small take off spot at point can mean some hassling .. middle peak doesnt work like it used to and was a good spot to nab a few.
take off on the point watch out for rocks espeically the big flat one infront of you !

Niton.
Niton is a good right hander and the most consistant wave on the I.O.W. Allthough not allways as good as seen in the pics on the site, under the right conditions it can be epic. I have had some of the best surfs of my life here and so have many of my friends, The future of the wave is uncertain as costal development has taken place and the rocks of the reef have been bulldozed. Many of the locals have expressed concern as to weather the wave will break after completion of the development. If anyone has any info on whats going on at Niton please send an E-mail.
