Jazzer
Hey boys cool yer jets.

I have surfed Porlock since the mid eighties and things move on and places get crowded. As for localism it's all a load of old bollocks. Are you telling me the locals don't go to other peoples local breaks. You have all been reading to many surf mags. You boys don't own it nor were you the first to surf it, nor was I.

we got lucky
I'm from Holland and juli 2007 we stayed in a cottage at porlock, we heard that this spot diddn't work a lot, so every day we drove to woolacombe and putts had some good session over therte until it got blown out, so we decided to go check Lynmouth but the crowd over there was to big and than we drove back to porlock to see if something was going on, and yes there actually was a nice 6 ft wave breaking with only 2 guys in the water ( some friendly dudes from minehead) had a good session over there

poop
I actually spuwwed here the other day when I saw a massive turd in the water. Then I dropped in and hit my head on the shallow bottom and got hit by someone else's board. Got out and fell over the nasty stones and then got abuse from the locals who were hitting golf balls at me. One of em must have bin a single handy capper, got me rite in the snozzer!!Basically you really don't want to surf here, I won't be again man,

Peace out, Fun board fran

I agree
Yeh good point city surfer, although thats bullshit about not seeing the same people as there are the colony boys and co, about 8 surfers who are locals and surf it pretty much whenver it works although IU agree if you drive from bristol why don't you go lyny too as it's only another 10mins!!It's much better, longer, bigger and more variety!!Get on your local break (severn bore). Smell ya later potata

Not as good as everyone says it is!!!!
Been surfing this stretch of coast for over 11 years. I was born in Minehead, grew up in Clevedon and now live in Bristol. I've surfed Porlock many times and never seen the same guys in the lineup twice, even when its crowded. Six or seven people is full and you should avoid it as there won't be enough waves for everyone?? I don't know why so many people avoid the better breaks when its pumpin, to surf a little left point that not even that long a point??? Just look at the photos and ask yourslef "is it really that good?"....Go surf Lynmouth when its on, as theres more of a chance of getting a wave, rather than a beating!!!

yeah let the younger kids have waves everyone has been there, sharing the waves its all good, groms might even give you some tips, some do absolutely rip but any cheeky arrogant ones... bollocks to em.

15th October 2005
Does anyone know if Porlock was working this Saturday?

comment by Sean, 2005-01-13 12:14:05

how about get a job!!
ok so if it already is'nt enough that porlock is so identifable and crowded nearly everyday of the week that those of you who decided to take those new photos and post them on here have taken it onto your own hands to help that situation even more. The pictures aren't even very well taken! all i seem to see happen at this area is that when north devon gets to big lynmouth and then porlock get super crowded even when they're not particulary great. Why not just have a day off and relax. How are the young surfers of now that dont live at croyde/fistral etc gonna get any good when those that rip - paddel deeper, go harder and seem to still possess dropin issues. Let the young ones have ago. most of us wouldn't be in the position we are now if we hadn't had some older guys to push us and help!

Stay in devon, you get it better most of the time.

Just incase anyone was wondering who the guy firing golfballs into the water from the car park on the weekend is, I know, but i doubt i'll tell anyone, found it quite amusing really.
