Begineers
I am a local, and I do get narked sometimes, how about this for starters: 3-4', take off, pull in, pop out, try to duck under some f****** NSP dropping in, the f***wit jumps away, his board hits me in the eye, his leash gets wrapped round my neck and pulls me off and holds me under. Now if I hadn't already had seven other collisions in half an hour I probably wouldn't have reacted quite so strongly, I really don't like violence in the water so I'm sorry about undoing the guys leash. But, and here's the point: if you are learning how to surf just don't surf Croyde; and if you're an instructor you should know better, Puts and Saunton are much better.

dont use little pink!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

just a heads up to anyone wanting reliable honest surfers opinions and hire in croyde bay!! please please dont use 'little pink surf shop' the owner isnt a true surfer and nor is his advice! anyone wanting to hire should use the beach front hire shop or one of the more reputable shops in the town centre he's just a business man and will sell you anything no matter how unsuitable and for as much as possible including a pack of lies! thanks for your time
a very discruntled customer

croyde isnt too bad for hassel.. but once i sorta dropped in on some local, pulled out way before he got anywhere near me but then he jumped on me and dunked my head under! that was the only trouble iv had in 6 years of croyde

no hassel
I've surfed croyde regularly for the past 10 years and although I'm not a local I haven't experience any hassels in the water. unlike places further south, where I had my car vandalised and a torrent of abuse

local
Unless you can actually surf well, avoid Croyde at low-tide, just go to Saunton or Woolacombe- there are heaps more peaks and you won't get any hassle. Croyde is crowded, and you will get serious hassle if you get in the way.
alternatively go to cornwall-even better.

Just started surfing in summer 2006. Croyde is a dream if you live inland and cant just stroll down to the beach. I lost my boyfriend to the sea at Croyde October 22nd 2006 so everyone playing in the sea there please be aware of the currents. The place holds a
special place in both mine and Trevors hearts. Think before you surf and have fun!

Croyde is brilliant!!
i've been going down croyde all year and the locals are legends. just the other day i was paddling for a wave, a a guy was already up and riding he hooted at me so i thought legend and went, you should have seen me.. one foot on the nose one on the tail, flapping my arms like seagul making of with a pasty... everyone was hollering me because i was slidding so hard along the rollers!! one guy told me to fuck off and called me poo man i guess that must be good!! after i got out the surf some friendly local getting threw stones and sand at me, and some one had left me a free bar of wax on my windscreen...I stood there in the sun cleaning up the wax which had melted all over my car, chatting to some other pros like me from bristol and london about how many people we had run over. i put in my garnier surf style hair wax and headed off for the pub, where another friendly local bar man offered me a complimentary pint of the the local brew, warm pale ale. apparently its all the range in australia. i cant wait til next weekend, one of the local boys even offered to take me base jumping at baggy point!
