just got back this place is great for beginners as it's slow and gives long rides..whilst I was here it jacked up alot on a few occaisions and was very good, locals as such were very cool, can't fault it espcially as I stayed at churchtown farm and didn't need to drive...

Nah its not Seven sisters. Its a reef called "The Stones" I work for Trinity House we maintain all the navigatinol aids around the UK. I have been out there onboard the ship when it has been working. Looks pretty sketchy!

Random Wave The wave your talking about breaks on one of the "seven sisters". A group of rocks extending out from Godrevy lighthouse. Apparently some local guys went out there in a boat to surf it on a big swell. Not sure of all the details but, I know that they had a lot of trouble trying to stay on the peak because of the amount of water shifting around. Also i dont think that they have been back out there so it cant be that good. I wouldn't plan on going out there unless you have a)a good boat, b)a good driver with good local knowledge c)a lot of confidence in your own ability and d)a good relationship with the local seals!

My home break Gwithian has the vibe it has because it is 'no-body's' break, I guess in that case it's everybody's. Although it's near to Hayle you have the Camborne, St Ives, Redruth, and Portreath lads all working their stuff there...can't be beaten. I'm local, priveleged enuff to live within 4mins of the beach, and I don't mind tourists, although this summer has been a bit crazy for parking and stuff. However, the two surf schools, although they do a good job, can get in the way! Respect due tho. The break itself can be quite fickle, weak on less than 3'. But boy do you know it once it's pushing 5'! Grin ear to ear and aching muscles, you ain't ever gonna want to go home ('cept the wife's calling!)! This August has been representative of the fantastic surf that we call home...and stick it to those that say Fistral rocks...you're having a laff! See you out back. T

Threes a Crowd! Well actually 300 wouldnt be crowded on this beach, really good locals, never seen any trouble here. the surf school is good as far as i know, seem like a good bunch of instructors, as Leroy said godrevey does pick up the swell better. The advantage of Gwith, Godre and Hayle, is that if the waves are too big for you in Godrevey you can always move down towards Hayle rivermouth ( watch for rips) as it gets smaller the further you go toward Hayle! Recently tends to closeout a bit, but holds up well in a light SE! great fun beach PERFECT to learn on- best in sept - still without boots and gloves but without the crowds of summer! 7/10 beach!!

Gwithian lover oi oi, im local to gwithian and i rekon it rules. normally surf the godrevy end cos its tends to get the bigger swells. its given me some of the best surfs ever. it can get soooo classsic, although it has been flat for over 2 weeks now :(
