townie surfers
this spot can be pretty sweet when st ouens and brelade are blown out. I had a blinding session down there last january when it was head high steep trying to get hollow. some waves dump on the steeper parts of the beach when the tide is big (which it needs to be) but you will be more concerned about the amount of idiot kids who drop in on each other thinking its fun, fine if they hit each other but when they start interfering wiht you waves is annoying. They have idea about wave right of way because they are all young fools who cant drive down to st ouen after school in the evenings to surf. beware of townie surfers...they are the worst.

the la mare summer open
In august we will be holding the la mare summer open, which is open to any surfers to compete, there will be a longboard division judged by chris king senior, an under 16s grom comp and the open. The competion is being held at la mare for its consistant and flawless waves, which are usually only surfed by hardcore locals such as occy, ras butel, harry handbags and crusty king.
Sophie Butel has generously donated her body as a prize for 1st place as she was unhappy with 3rd place at the last competion. 2nd Prize is a Bic Surfboard kindly donated by spar (corner store standards and super store value) and 3rd place is a bottle of l'oreal sun lotion as advertised by none other than mr.kelly slater.
the competion will be held on 1 day between the 10th -
24th august. There will be a post for the chosen day, when theres a fresh, peaky swell on the horizon.
The competion will be held at the lighthouse and there will be an after party at the good companions club where the volantes will be present. so bring them jonnys!!
see you down there...
