Not a surfers' problem - Hi.I'm a 17 yo from Getxo, here in the Basque Country.I've been reading some of the messages posted here, and think that this page is intended to talk about SURFING.Spots, photos, swells, winds...and not aboun POLITIC TERMS.It doesn't matter if we're spanish, euskaldunes or anyother nationality. Why are you talking about those things when seas have no nationality??If you go to any event such as one of the WTC, you won't see somebody talking about politics, but about surfing.I do not know why people mix terms as different as surfing and nationalists problems. The thing isn't where are you from. The thing is that you like surfing, and that you are in a forum about surfing. Not about politics!!!!
I wish a better year in terms of waves.Urte berri on, agur.

What A Difference A Decade Makes.......... - Yep....Sounds like it's all over at Mundaka now. When I lived there for a year in 93, localism wasn't a big deal and if you were a competant surfer you'd get HEAPS of waves. Sure, all the Sopelana crew would show up on the good days but never earlier than about 10am. On 6 - 8 foot days during the week you could be sharing the waves with about 12 - 15 people max. more often than not. I even had the pleasure of surfing it alone at 6 foot for an hour on a sunny, low tide, offshore morning in February. Sure, there were days when it got packed but not that often. I reckon if you make an effort to talk to these people in Espanyol life will be a lot easier for you in the line up. Still, thats easy for me to say. I don't know if that would cut it with 100 pricks out there now. Unfortunately, the surf culture has gone wrong there and most of them are image boys who watch way too many surf vids. I go over every 3 - 4 years to visit my in laws but i don't even take a board these days. Best fun there now is to get on the hooligan soup at the many fiestas happening late summer and leave Mundaka for the masses. Hopefully a new fashion/craze/sport will evolve in Europe soon and all these new kids on the block will ditch surfing for something else.

la paella es mierda - I hate spanish stupid people who don't respect our rights, they know that we are diferents that we are betters than them and that we have better things, like mundaka and more beaches, our surfers, and much more things. We want independence and peace, and enjoy our waves in peace
